glass wool
Glass wool is made from sand and recycled glass. The material is non-flammable and insoluble in water and easy to work with. In addition, glass wool weighs little so that transporting weight is no problem. However, pressing is more difficult because glass wool cannot be compressed very much.
Glass wool insulates perfectly
Glass wool insulates very well. A glass wool blanket has a very open structure. Air is, as it were, enclosed between the fibers and therefore cannot circulate and dissipate heat, creating an insulating layer of air. Glass wool therefore mainly consists of air. It is one of the most commonly used insulation materials in construction and you can use it for the insulation of facades, floors, roofs and interior walls. The insulation material does not retain moisture and does not absorb moisture. It is therefore also not a breeding ground for fungi and the like. Glass wool has a low environmental impact because it is largely made from recycled material. Moreover, production requires little energy.
Packaging glass wool is not easy
The disadvantage of glass wool is that it is difficult to compress and package for transport. If the glass wool is compressed too much, the glass structure breaks and loses its insulation value. Willems insulation presses perform this process accurately and fully automatically.
